Festival of the Underworld
MICTLAND is inspired by pre-Colombian wisdom and traditions from South America. The name Mictland is a combination of the Nahuatl “Mictlan” and the Dutch “land”, and thus stands for the “Land of the Underworld”. Mictland is a reflection on and a celebration of death as part of life. This is done out of anthropological as well as festive and artistic considerations. Age-old traditions come into contact with contemporary visions from different artistic movements, up to Science Fiction.
